In 2020, the Environment Agency is introducing new regulations that will affect the way Septic waste is discharged from Septic Tank and sewage systems. DT Groundworks is issuing a warning that home and business owners need to act now if they are going to keep up with these regulations.
Due to the changes coming in 2020, property owners with a Septic Tank or sewage system will no longer be able to discharge wastewater into their local river or stream. The quality of the water that is dispersed from septic systems is no longer considered clean enough and will cause pollution if they enter a watercourse.
If you are a property owner that has a septic tank installed that discharges wastewater directly into a stream or river and does not have a soakaway or drainage field, you are required to replace or upgrade your system by January 1, 2020.
Dan Teal, the owner of DT Groundworks, warns that farms and other properties that use a septic tank system need to get their system replaced or upgraded immediately. There are not enough qualified and experienced contractors around to meet the demand, so you need to act now before it is too late.
If you are in doubt you can get a survey carried out on your property to determine whether a replacement or upgrade is necessary. Should you need new equipment installing, the process of replacing or upgrading your system will take 3-4 weeks, meaning you need to act fast so that you aren’t left behind.
Due to the urgency of these operations, the cheapest time you can get your septic tank system replaced or upgraded is now, as prices for the service will increase in 2020 and you will be met with a large fine by the Environmental Agency.
The best time to get this done was earlier this year, but the second best time is now. This should be done as a matter of urgency as leaving it too late could lead to dire consequences for yourself and your property.
